Stop Treating Politics Like Football

I am sick of people swearing allegiance to political parties. Political parties are not like football teams; you don't pick a team and then stick with them for life.

Politics changes day by day. The economy changes day by day. Your life and your needs change day by day. You should vote for the party that is right for you at the time of voting; not vote for the same party that you've always voted for just because you always have done.

You might support the general political ideology of a particular political party, but you might not support its current leader. If that's the case, then don't vote for that party.

Similarly, you might not agree with a party's economic stance, whether that be top-down or bottom-up economics, but you might agree with their stance on an issue that is much more pressing in the country at the time of voting (like Brexit), so don't feel ashamed to vote for them.

Just because you know that you would vote for a particular party in a general election, doesn't mean you have to vote for that party for every election such as EU parliament or local council. You may feel that a particular local councilor will do an excellent job for your local area, but you might not necessarily like the party they are representing. Vote for whoever is the best candidate for the role.

Don't pick a team and stick with it for life. And don't raise your eyebrows at people that don't identify with any particular party.
