The worst kind of people? - The ones who wear clothes and then return them!

People who wear clothes and then return them are the worst kind of people. Don't be so cheap - if you can't afford it don't buy it!!

It is such a selfish act. Why should I pay for clothes when other people are buying them, wearing them and then sending them back for a full refund? What makes people think that it's okay to do that? You wouldn't do that with other things, so why do people think it's acceptable to do it with clothes? - You wouldn't buy a cake tin because you wanted to bake a cake, and then take the tin back for a refund once you had baked your cake would you? There's literally no difference between the two.

Although the selfish people that do this are to blame, the stores need to take some responsibility too. I ordered some clothes from a certain online clothes retailer recently and one of the tops stunk of cigarettes - I could smell it as soon as I opened the bag. It was obvious that someone had worn it on a night out and sent it back. If the retailer had bothered to check the top when it was returned to them, then this would have been obvious and they could have charged the customer for it. If stores bothered to check, then surely less people would take the risk of wearing clothes and then sending them back. I should be able to buy clothes and wear them straight away, without having to wash them first because I should be able to trust that they are clean and new - I didn't pay a cheaper price for second hand clothes! Instead, I now feel that I have to wash new clothes as soon as I buy them, in case other people have worn them.

This instance is not the first time I have been sent worn clothes by stores and I know plenty of people that have admitted to regularly wearing clothes and sending them back; I even know of one person who threw up on an outfit on a night out and still sent it back!! - The store did not seem to notice as she was given a full refund.

ASOS have recently updated their returns policy to prevent people wearing clothes and then returning. However, instead of just ensuring that their staff are thoroughly checking returns before offering a refund, they are instead punishing serial returns. I will admit I often buy a whole load more clothes than I intend to keep and then send a lot back, but this is not because I am being selfish and cheap, it is because often outfits do not fit or they do not suit me so I send them back. I buy lots of clothes that I like the look of so that I can try them on and then keep the best ones. This is only what you would do in a shop - you try on all the clothes you like in the changing room and then you only buy the ones that suit you and fit well. With ASOS's new return policy, I now feel that I can't do that because they may think I am one of those selfish people who think it's okay to wear clothes before sending them back. Why should I be punished because other people are selfish?
